Back when I started my year long goal of posting in my blog 200 times in a year I was stuck trying to figure out what I would do for content. I had a few ideas and then one day while stacking up pens, pencils and another blank sketchbook (to add to the pile of shit I’ll never use, but buy with an OCD/hoarder like compulsion.) I spotted this book by Mr. Mike Herrod. Comics To Go! is a book for parents to buy their children to teach them how to construct comics themselves.
This would be a book I would purchase for my child if I had one. It would also be a book that I would purchase if I was a complete asshole who wanted to supplement his lack of talent, humor and general self hatred on his website with someone else’s hard work. At first I was kind of surprised by the continuity errors from panel to panel throughout the whole thing. The lack of consistency was irrationally irritating to me, but now I have to admit I’m a really big fan of Mike Herrod and want nothing more than for him to update his Etsy store with original artwork I can hang all over my house.
Until then here’s my horrific versions of what is certainly not what Mr. Herrod intended when he drew this book for children.
