Coming 2015

IMG_5700So I have these Rhodia lined journals that I’ve been doing a lot of stuff in. Nobody has really seen the whole thing but I’m not completely sure what to do with this mass of art/words.

The whole project was pretty much unexpected to begin with. Last year I worked in Special Education in a K-6 school. During that time, the 5th & 6th graders had to start doing this Daily Journal thing. So it was about two months in and I was checking out one of the kids journals. During this he asked

“How come we got to do a journal and you don’t have to do one?” I had no answer, but I figured if I did one I could get a few more students interested in writing/drawing. Mostly drawing though, because writers are just failed artists.

Anyway, so I started journaling Monday thru Friday. Just little dumb things that I thought would be funny for the kids to see and read for 11-12 year olds. Which lead to 120 pages of drawings & writings.

I’ve been sitting on this stuff for a year now and haven’t done anything with it. I’m not sure if it’d be a cool book or just something to throw online. I think I’m going to post a bit of it online on Mondays for people to check out, and I’ll see how that goes.

It will all be photographs of the pages though, because I still haven’t figured out how to get decent scans of Prismacolors. So it is what it is.

My old co-worker Chelsea is one of the best people I’ve ever met. She’s a looker of a young lady, but she’s also one of the nicest people I’ve ever come in contact with.

She wore antlers and painted a red nose on her face during one of the holiday shifts we worked together and actually waited tables in this awful holiday get up. I admire people like her because my insecure ass would never be able to paint a Rudolph nose on and go out in public.  It takes a giant set of balls to do something goofy like that and not give a fuck about people judging you and I respect her a lot for that.
